I've had some competency issues with pharmacy employees though, but after a call with management, they were cleared up. I can't say I'd recommend this location to anybody, however it's convenient for those living in Maple Heights. It's the only reason why I go there.
Horrible, not enough help in the store during national chicken day. The line was longer than the check out line. So, I went to get M.O.D. , he replied there was nothing he could do because there was not enough people on the schedule. The M.O.D. came over to the chickem counter then left instead of trying to help the one person working in the area. The M.O.D. didn't apologize or show any consideration toward us, the customer. Simply said if we can't wait then feel free to leave. We waited for over 1 hr. 45 minutes to get our food.
Update. Went there today. Thursday Dec 14 due to the weather. Security had to dispel an escalating argument between 2 women.
Okay store, nothing spectacular. Too bad they have to have security.
Not clean, and the meat dept. Never has ad.items price points. They combine all together so u don't know what's on sale. I went to look for hams on sale as advertising and had to ask. Was told they were in the back. Why? I love your chicken but during peak times always out, have to wait 30 min.really? Customer service is good if you can find someone, did not know you came with a greater that do nothing, not even speaks to customers, wish I had her job! Overall all can be better!
Needs to be updated not as nice as the other store but the employees is why I rated them this high. Great customer service!
Update. Redesign of shelves has given it more of a claustophobic, depressed feeling. Quality of Hot Foods and bakery items seems to have gone down,. I bought a Rotisserie chicken that not only was small and sad looking but devoid of any taste as well, Also bought donuts that were lacking in flavor,. By comparison bought same items at Giant Eagle in Lakewood and soon to be closed Lorain and West 138th. World of difference in quality of Hot foods and bakery. Chicken was a nice size and delicious and donuts (and cookies) were fresh and tasted great. Using self checkout at Lakewood and Lorain/West 138th is great as well. Lakewood has newer (and better) self check out machines. I only go to Southgate if weather is bad, otherwise it's Lakewood or Lorain/West 138th and I live on the east side,
I recently moved from Lorain County. All the locations I've visited in L.C. over the years, have been clean. The Maple Heights location is disgusting and dirty. Given the location, a lot of the clientele is lower class and rude (has nothing to do with race. Has everything to do with personality.) I guess that should be expected in the cities surrounding Cleveland though. The employees seem to be quite pleasant and knowledgeable. In the year I've lived in Maple Heights, I don't think I had any issues with any of the grocery store employees.
Southgate is that bad the store now closes at 10?
